birthday wishes
ira glass turns 50 today ... i told you i was an npr junkie. glass and this american life are two of my favorite things in life. seriously the best date mas and i ever had was at a live this american life show in chicago. we listen to the podcasts and watch (or at least we did when we had showtime) the show. we even asked him to be the officiant at our wedding, i think you know how that ended up, so in order to celebrate we might purchase the second season of the tv show from itunes and start watching it tonight ... after all we did finished the wire and generation kill we need another show to watch obsessively.

My lovely bf surprised me with the "what i learned from television" poster and it was by far the best present ever.
i adore ira.
ReplyDeletewe're going to the live show in chicago in april and i am soooo excited.
mm - i am kinda thinking we need that poster too.
ReplyDeletejane - um i am so jealous! i would so very, very, very much like to go. you will have the best time i just know it.
I would like to have Ira's babies. Don't tell him that though.
ReplyDeleteWhen we first met my then BF (now husband) took a cross country train to come live with me. I sent him my ipod with a whole bunch of TAL episodes for him to listen to. Then, when he was working from home and he listened to the complete archives that I had listened to at a very slow desk job a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteIt is still one of the biggest things we ever bonded over. We LOVE Ira!
Ok. Our Rabbi in Brooklyn... it's like he is Ira Glass. Same voice, same mannerisms, same low key way. We love him. When David first met him he told me "I think they have Ira Glass as their Rabbi? It's weird?" Sadly, he's not officating our wedding, since we have a lesbian only officant rule (um. sort of true.)
ReplyDeleteIn other news, He's 50? WHAT?
Yay, Ira! I actually got to listen to the live recording of David Sedaris' Santaland Diaries show for TAL, and I still brag about it. Watching the two of them on stage together was mind blowing.
ReplyDeleteoh i think i love david sedaris too.
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE Ira! Oh, and he & my mom share a birthday. How cool is that?
